Inspecting the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Blora Regency and IPB signed by Rector of IPB and Regent of Blora Regency on November 2017, Faculty of Economics and Management IPB along with Department of Agriculture and Food Security, Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Department of Trade and Cooperatives, and SMEs of Blora Regency conducted a signature ceremony of Cooperation Agreement (CA) on Saturday, 5 May 2018 at IPB Dramaga campus. This ceremony is attended by Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, Vice Rector for Education and Student Affair, Dr. Drajat Martianto, Vice Head for Community Development of Institute of Research and Community Empowerment, Prof. Sugeng Heri Suseno, Representative of Blora Regency Governor, and some other representatives of local government who are present in conjunction with the event of Debriefing Potential Areas to IPB students who will be executing Student Study Service-Thematic.

This collaboration is an effort to start an inclusive and sustainable agribusiness development action programs in Blora. “Through this program, we aim to tighten cooperation between Blora Regency and IPB, especially in the field of agriculture in Blora which has a lot of potentials but has not been developed optimally,” said Dr Anna Fariyanti, Coordinator of collaboration program between Blora Regency and IPB.

Blora Regency has animal husbandry potential which ranked number two in Indonesia and this is a great opportunity to be developed. “Later, we will help in the form of debriefing for students of Faculty of Economics and Management, and also debriefing for those who will be departed to Blora Regency to execute Student Study Service-Thematic. This program–which attributed to IPB-will consist of some programs aimed to develop the agribusiness potential in Blora,” Dr. Anna Fariyanti added.

Department of Agribusiness IPB along with Tropical Horticulture Study Center (THSC) IPB is also set up cooperation with PT Gendis Multi Manis-Bulog. On the same occasion, lecturer of the Department of Agribusiness IPB, Dr. Netti Tinaprila and the Secretary of THSC IPB uttered, “Technical cooperation for the implementation of this program requires other technical departments, such as collaboration between Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, and Business School. THSC is ready to support the Cooperation Agreement to run well, and also, THSC is ready to assist in the provision of human resources,” said Dr. Netti.

Prior to the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, there was also discussion with Prof. Nachrowi-an expert in nutrition science from Faculty of Animal Science, IPB- about of the development of livestock through the provision of high quality and affordable animal feed. It continued by discussing the development of post-harvest agribusiness superior products in Blora between THSC IPB and Department of Agriculture and Food Crops.

Head of the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of Blora Regency, Ir. Wahyu Agustini, M.Si, said “we are looking forward to mutually beneficial collaboration programs to develop the potential of beef cattle in Blora with the population of 231,045. This figure is the highest in Central Java.” (SMH/sn)
