The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), Faculty of Human Ecology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry Bogor Regency in fostering elementary and junior high school students to become smart consumers in choosing healthy snacks and willing to apply Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS). This activity is routinely implemented by the Department of Trade and Industry of Bogor Regency since 2015.

The speakers of the extension activity are Dr. Ir. Lilik Noor Yuliati, MFSA and Dr. Ir. Megawati Simanjuntak, SP.MSi who is the lecturer of IKK Department.

Megawati Simanjuntak said that this activity is routinely implemented since 2015 and IKK is trusted to foster schools so that students can become smart consumers in choosing school snacks.

"This year there are six elementary and junior high school that will get coaching. Namely SDN Kadumangu 03, Babakan Madang Districts (July 23, 2018), SMPN 01 Babakan Madang Districts (July 24, 2018), SDN Pajeletan 01 Cibinong (July 25, 2018), SMPN 2 Cibinong District (July 26, 2018), SDN Sasanawiyata 02 Sukaraja Districts (30 July 2018), SMPN 01 Sukaraja Districts (July 31, 2018). Each educational activity is followed by teachers from several schools in the school where the activity takes place, canteen managers, street vendors, parents, and students. Extension activities received a very positive response from the school and participants, "said Dr. Megawati.

Dr. Megawati hopes that this activity will continue and give effect to the provision of safe, healthy and nutritious snacks in schools.

Meanwhile, Head of Department of Trade and Industry Bogor Regency, H. Dace Supriadi, SH, MSi said the purpose of this school snack socialization activities is to provide knowledge about the orderly trade to business actors, consumers in this case the students and the general public.

"Also to improve the empowerment of consumers (students) in choosing, buying and consuming safe snacks. For that, schools and parents should play a role in protecting children from harmful snacks, "he added. (flw)
