IPB Pedia: MaggoPlast-Gel, Innovative Wound Plaster

One of the Student Creativity Programme for Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) teams of IPB University succeeded in developing an innovative wound plaster product, MaggoPlast-Gel. The team consisted of Neng Wiwi Whidiningsih, Renhard Al Rasyid, Novia Miftakhul Qisthi, Suci Meyditia Oktafitri, and Seni Fitriani Safitri with Assistant Lecturer, Ir Fahrizal Hazra, M.Sc. MaggoPlast-Gel is a liquid nanoemulgel plaster containing black soldier fly (BSF) maggot extract and brotowali stem. BSF maggot extract plays a role in the formation of new tissue in wounds and brotowali stem extract acts as an antibacterial. Different from the usual wound plasters that use elastic cloth, this plaster is more environmentally friendly because the material is easily decomposed and does not cause waste.
