Family support is not only an encouragement, but also a major source of strength in facing exam pressure. The journey to the gates of a dream university is often characterized by sacrifice and boundless support from those closest to us.

Like Lila, the older sister of Anderson, a participant in the 2025 Computer-Based Writing Test-Selection Based National Test (UTBK-SNBT) at IPB University from Flores.

Lila shared her journey to accompany her younger brother to set foot on the dream campus, IPB University. Together with her brother Anderson, the two traveled from Flores since Saturday (4/19) from their home in Bajawa, Flores.

“We had to take an eight-hour road trip to Labuan Bajo. There, we spent the night at the airport for our flight the next day. We flew for two hours to Jakarta,” she explains.

She admitted that Anderson had prepared himself for a long time and was determined to choose IPB University’s Veterinary Medicine Undergraduate Study Program at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB).

It was not without reason. Lila said that the veterinary profession where she lives is still relatively rare. Lila has high hopes that Anderson can realize his dream and one day his knowledge can benefit the people in Flores.

“Hopefully my brother can be accepted at IPB University and study well. In our village, veterinarians can be counted on the fingers. So, my hope is that my brother can be one of those who can contribute there,” she said.

The story of this brother and sister is a reflection of how big a role family plays in leading someone to success, even from the first steps of pursuing higher education. (AS) (IAAS/FMT)
