IPB University Faculty of Medicine Lecturer Gives Tips on Managing Sleep Patterns during Ramadan

dr Citra Ariani, SpKP, MBiomed, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of IPB University said that changes in sleep patterns during Ramadan can have a negative impact on health, including obesity, mood disorders, and impaired immunity.
Not only that, changes in sleep patterns can also affect daily performance, such as reduced concentration and energy in doing daily tasks.
To prevent this, dr Citra provides some tips on managing sleep patterns during Ramadan, including arranging to sleep at the same time at night and avoiding too heavy meals when breaking the fast.
She also emphasized the implementation of sleep hygiene by creating a comfortable sleeping environment. “You can do this by setting a cooler temperature, turning off the lights, and not using gadgets 30 minutes before bedtime,” she explained.
In addition, dr Citra also provided some ways to avoid fatigue and optimize energy during Ramadan. She advised that even though you are fasting, it is important to keep moving actively proportionally.
“In addition, set a balanced diet and drink enough water,” she added.
dr Citra Ariani also emphasized the importance of maintaining a good sleep pattern after Ramadan ends. This can be done by maintaining a consistent night’s sleep, continuing sleep hygiene practices, reducing consumption of caffeinated drinks before bed, and avoiding smoking. (dh) (IAAS/NRA)
