IPB University Master of Management Science Student Discusses Ziswaf Management at the 8th ICONZ
IPB University Master of Management Science student, Muhamad Rafi Anggara, contributed to the 8th International Conference on Zakat (ICONZ), which took place at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), recently.
This conference carried the theme “Zakat Contribution Towards The World Poverty Alleviation and Welfare” and presented speakers and participants from various countries.
Rafi Anggara, presented an article entitled “Analysis of the Influence of e-WOM on the Selection of Ziswaf Institutions for the Sustainability of Muzaki Participation”. His research discussed the challenges of zakat management in the digital era as well as strategies to increase muzaki participation in a sustainable manner.
“The potential of zakat in Indonesia is huge, but the realization is still far from optimal. I hope this research can contribute to a deeper understanding of how public trust can be improved to encourage muzaki participation,” said Rafi.
The conference also featured a range of international speakers. Chit Ko Ko Oo from the Resource Foundation of Myanmar discussed the management of zakat in a non-Muslim majority country. “We discussed how zakat can be a tool of solidarity among Muslim minority communities,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Mohammad S Yacob from the Philippines shared his experience on how he learned from zakat management in Indonesia to be applied in his country. “Indonesia is a role model in transparent and effective zakat system,” he said.
Wisudanto C Suntoyo, ST, MBA, Chief of Customer Google Indonesia, also explained the role of technology in zakat management. “Digitalization opens up great opportunities to improve the efficiency and transparency of zakat,” he said.
Prof Abdul Ghofar Ismail from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia spoke about the importance of zakat education in building public awareness.
The 8th ICONZ lasted for three days with various series of activities, ranging from conferences to international seminars. This event became a collaborative space to exchange ideas and develop strategies in overcoming social problems through zakat.
“At ICONZ 8, we have a great opportunity to strengthen global collaboration in zakat management and community empowerment,” said one of the organizers.
By involving academics, practitioners, and researchers from various countries, ICONZ 8 is an important platform for sharing ideas, innovations, and strategies in supporting global welfare. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
