Bilateral Meeting between IPB University and Kyoto University: Strengthening Cooperation at the 10th Anniversary of the ASEAN Center
IPB University and Kyoto University held a bilateral meeting, which coincided with the 10th anniversary of Kyoto University ASEAN Center and the 20th Southeast Asia Network Forum, at Hilton Grande Asoke, Bangkok, Thailand (17/12).
The delegation of IPB University was led by the Rector, Prof Arif Satria together with the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi.
In addition, the IPB University-Kyoto University Cooperation Cross Appointee, Dr Andrea Emma Pravitasari and Kyoto University Satellite Office IPB University staff, Yuri Ardhya Stanny, MSi, MGES also accompanied.
The meeting was attended by the President of Kyoto University, Dr Nagahiro Minato. Accompanied by Vice President, Prof Yasuyuki Kono and Director of Kyoto University ASEAN Center in Thailand, Prof Eiji Nawata.
During the meeting, Prof Arif conveyed various innovations and significant achievements of IPB University in the fields of education, research, innovation, and community service, including the results of cooperation with Kyoto University.
“This meeting reinforces the commitment of IPB University and Kyoto University in building a wider and sustainable network of cooperation through innovative research and education,” said Rector.
Furthermore, both parties expect to expand student and academic staff exchange programs by involving more study programs and departments in each university.
The implementation of double degree programs, which are currently limited to two graduate schools at Kyoto University, namely the Graduate School of Agriculture (GSA) and the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES), is also expected to be expanded.
“The next double degree program that might be explored is the field of management and business,” said Prof Arif.
Dr Nagahiro appreciated the achievements of IPB University. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the great potential of Indonesian resources through closer collaboration.
“Strategic cooperation between Kyoto University and IPB University can continue to grow and produce world-scale innovation breakthroughs in the future,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prof Ernan explained the history and development of cooperation between the two universities that has been going on for a long time. Starting from the faculty and study center level in 1983 and the MoU at the university level since 2013. (*/Nr) (IAAS/Hap)
