IPB University Graduate School Receives Benchmarking Visit from Unipa, Learning the Management of Synergy and PMDSU Programs

The Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University received a benchmarking visit from the University of Papua (Unipa) in Room 301, SPs Building of IPB University (17/12). The visit was represented by the Deputy Director of the Unipa Postgraduate Program, Prof Abdul Hamid Toha.

Welcomed directly by the leadership of SPs IPB University, this visit was intended as a place for learning and sharing information related to the management of the Master’s Degree Synergy (Synergy) program and Master’s Education towards Doctorates for Superior Scholars (PMDSU).

Dean of SPs IPB University, Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat conveyed the potential for cooperation between IPB University and Unipa in developing the Synergy and PMDSU programs. He emphasized that IPB University is open to collaboration in the form of academic exchanges, strengthening the capacity of human resources (HR), to joint research that can support the improvement of the quality of postgraduate programs at Unipa.

“This cooperation is not only about sharing knowledge, but also opening up opportunities for joint research and innovation that will benefit both institutions. We also offer cooperation in the form of a double degree program that has the potential to be funded by the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) as part of efforts to expand access and academic development at Unipa,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean of SPs IPB University in the field of Resources, Cooperation, and Development, Prof Titi Candra Sunarti explained the system of admission, organization, and academic implementation for the Synergy and PMDSU programs at SPs IPB University.

In addition, she also emphasized the importance of a structured and sustainable system in supporting the two programs, both in terms of academic and administrative. “We have long experience in managing these programs and we hope this information can be useful for Unipa in preparing for similar implementation,” she explained.

Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof Yusli Wardiatno also conveyed the opportunities for research cooperation between IPB University and Unipa which could support the implementation of the Synergy and PMDSU programs.

He said, “We see the potential for joint research in relevant fields between IPB University and Unipa. This will be a strategic step to strengthen academic and human resource development,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prof Abdul Hamid Toha expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome given by SPs IPB University. According to him, this visit provides useful information for the development of programs at Unipa.

“This visit is very important for us to learn how to manage the Synergy and PMDSU programs. We hope that the insights and experiences from IPB University can be adapted at Unipa to improve the quality of our postgraduate education,” he added.

This benchmarking visit also has important relevance in order to support Unipa’s transformation process from a Higher Education Unit (PTN Satker) to a Public Service Agency (BLU).

In this process, IPB University acts as a coach who provides support and guidance in preparing Unipa’s governance changes towards BLU. This transformation is expected to further strengthen Unipa’s governance in supporting excellent programs in the postgraduate environment.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to strengthen synergies and establish closer collaboration in the future. This visit is expected to be a positive first step for improving the quality of postgraduate education in both institutions. (HBL/Nr) (IAAS/RUM)
