A Number of Farmers and Pasuruan Regency Government Visit the Faculty of Animal Science of IPB University
The Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) of IPB University received a visit from the Pasuruan Regency Government at the James Humuntal Hutasoit (JHH) Auditorium of Fapet, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. A total of 70 breeders of Pasuruan Regency attended this visit.
The group consisted of the Regional Secretary of Pasuruan Regency (Yudha Triwidya Sasongko), SSos, MSi, who came with the chief of department (Kadis). They were the Chief of Food Security and Agriculture (Ir Lilik Widji Asri, MA), the Chief of Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives (Tri Krisni Astuti, SSos, MM), the Chief of Industry and Trade represented by the Chief of Industrial Resource Development (Ika Arianto, ST).
Also present were the heads of the Pasuruan District Livestock and Animal Health Services, namely the Division Chief of Livestock Infrastructure, Facilities, and Business (Mokhamad Syaifi, SPt) and the Division Chief of Breeding, Feed, and Livestock Production (drh Anna Ismawati).
The activity began with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement Letter (SPK) between Fapet IPB University and Pasuruan District Livestock and Animal Health Services. This cooperation was initiated by Prof Ronny R Noor and silkworm expert from Fapet IPB University, Dr Yuni Cahya Endrawati.
Both parties agreed to work together in organizing educational activities, research, and community service. The cooperation also includes the development of silkworms in the Pasuruan Regency area, one of which is the provision of samia silkworm seeds.
The signing of the SPK was witnessed by the Regional Secretary, Chief of Staff, and Division Chief from Pasuruan as well as the Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development Prof Dr Sri Suharti, Chairman of the INTP Department Dr Heri Ahmad Sukria, M.Sc.Agr and Prof Jakaria from Fapet.
Dr Idat Galih Permana, Dean of Fapet IPB University welcomed the visit. “Frankly, we are happy because Pasuruan Regency is a district that is indeed very potential and very productive in terms of agriculture, especially in the field of dairy farming,” he said.
“We also heard from Dr Yuni that silkworm development activities in Pasuruan Regency have also begun to develop. The initiation of this cooperation also started from silkworms. Perhaps later it can develop into other fields, especially dairy and beef cattle farming,” he added.
The Secretary of Pasuruan Regency, Yudha Triwidya Sasongko, SSos, M,Si also expressed his appreciation to the Faculty of Animal Science of IPB University. He also explained several things related to animal husbandry in Pasuruan. “Our presence here is part of our efforts to maximize the potential in Pasuruan,” Yudha said.
“We had a discussion with Dr Yuni about specific activities related to silkworm development in Pasuruan Regency because the local government is still not optimal in supporting what has been done by friends in silkworm management,” he said.
Yudha also hopes that the cooperation can be developed not only in silkworm development but also in other potential livestock.
The event continued with a presentation on the innovation of Eri silkworm synthetic strains (Samia cynthia ricini) to empower Samia silkworm farmers in Pasuruan Regency, East Java by Dr Yuni Cahya Endrawati. Followed by a visit from the Pasuruan Regency team to the laboratory, sheep pens and waste processing of Fapet IPB University. (Femmy/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
