The Student Association of Pet Animals and Exotic Aquatic Animals (Himpro HKSA) successfully held Pet Care Day (16/11) at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC). The event carried the theme “Pets of Every Kind: Embracing Our Diverse Animal Companion” attracted more than 800 visitors.

Pet Care Day aims to educate the general public about animal welfare through various activities, such as workshops, animal lovers’ community discussions, competitions, vaccinations, and donations. The event also provided education on how to safely care for various types of pets.

“This activity is a means for students to practice communicating, serving, working together, and organizing so that the benefits will be very broad,” said Dean of SKHB IPB University, Dr drh Amrozy.

SKHB IPB University students foster concern for unowned animals housed in animal shelters. Through Pet Care Daya, students raise donations that are then allocated to support the welfare of animals in the shelter.

This year’s Pet Care Day featured a Basic Snake Care Workshop delivered by Dr Piter Kombo. During the workshop, drh Piter shared knowledge about the introduction of snake species that are often used as pet animals, preparations before starting to raise and care for snakes, recognizing the signs of a healthy snake. He also provided education on how to solve common snake problems, knowing when to see a veterinarian, and various other informative information.

Pet Care Day activities are expected to be a means of education as well as recreation for the wider community, especially pet and exotic animal lovers. In addition to getting to know things about pets, this activity also provides benefits and assistance for shelters around Bogor. (HA/Rz) (IAAS/NAU)
