The event was opened by IPB University’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi who was accompanied by the Chairman of IPB University’s Advanced Technology International Research Institute, Prof Anas Miftah Fauzi and Secretary of IPB University’s Advanced Technology International Research Institute, Prof Wisnu Ananta Kusuma.

In his remarks, Prof Wisnu Ananta Kusuma who is also the Chief Organizer of BBC 2024 said, this conference became a dynamic platform for researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to meet and discuss the latest innovations, trends, and advances in the field of bioinformatics and biodiversity.

“This year’s focus is on highlighting applications in bioengineering and biotechnology, fields that are currently growing rapidly with important breakthroughs,” he said.

As Chair of MABBI as well, Prof Vishnu hopes this activity can encourage in-depth discussions, build connections, and create progress that will shape the future of bioinformatics and biodiversity.

“Thank you for the participation of all participants, and let us together explore new insights that will contribute to a brighter future in science,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prof Ernan Rustiadi said that IPB University was honored to host the 5th BBC 2024 Conference.

Prof Ernan is optimistic that IPB University and various academic communities will continue to play an active role in developing and utilizing bioinformatics for the future.

“IPB University has a strong institution in bioinformatics, which will continue to develop as a new science in the future. Bioinformatics is supported by data science and the development of computer science, so it has the potential to become a pillar of significant progress in various fields of life science and technology,” he said.

The event also presented six renowned keynote speakers from academia and industry, namely Dr Prashanth Suravajhala (Amrita University and Founder of Bioclues.org), Dr Rasmus Heller (University of Copenhagen, Denmark), Dr Artur Gora (University of Silesia, Poland), Prof Tati Latifah Erawati Rajab (Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia), Dr Rebekah Henry (Monash University, Australia), and Dr Els De Keyzer (University of Antwerp, Belgium).
