IPB University Lecturer Inaugurates Healing Garden: Relaxation and Spiritual Space for Santri Ponpes Al Muhajirin Purwakarta
IPB University’s Dosen Pulang Kampung (Dospulkam) Team from the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Agriculture inaugurated the Healing Garden demonstration plot at Anas Bin Malik Garden, Al Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School in Kiarapedes, Purwakarta, West Java (10/11).
The inauguration was attended by various stakeholders including the board of Al Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, local government, students, and students of Al Muhajirin Islamic College (STAI).
The program as a whole is intended to provide a space for relaxation, discussion, and murojaah (repetition of Quran memorization) for Al Muhajirin students. The Healing garden is also expected to improve spiritual activity, physical and mental health in the pesantren environment.
“This program is expected to be a means for students to achieve spiritual, mental, and physical balance, as well as the first step in the development of agriculture-based pesantren in the future,” said the Director of Agromaritime Community Development of IPB University, Dr Handian Purwawangsa, who was present to open the event.
The next series of events were remarks from the Chairman of the Al-Muhajirin Foundation, Prof KH Abun Bunyamin, followed by symbolic planting as the inauguration of the Healing Garden at Anas bin Malik Farm, Pesantren Al Muhajirin.
The activity continued with an explanation of the healing garden, the creation of natural healthy drinks, and the utilization of fruit and vegetable waste by the resource person, Dr Tati Budiarti. The material is considered important as an improvement in the quality of life and sustainability of the pesantren landscape.
Prior to the inauguration, the Dospulkam team had gone through several stages, including the preparation of the healing garden design, presentation of the design to the pesantren, training in horticultural plant cultivation, as well as planting activities and design implementation. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
