The Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency of DKI Jakarta Province in collaboration with the Halal Science Center (HSC) IPB University conducted Halal Butchers Training and Technical Guidance on Halal Certification for Animal Slaughterhouses in DKI Jakarta in 2024.

This training aims to increase the number of competent halal butchers in various slaughterhouses in DKI Jakarta Province. Through this training, halal butchers who have been trained have adequate competence and skills and are able to apply the knowledge they have gained in halal slaughtering practices in accordance with Islamic principles.

In addition, this activity also aims to provide guidance to business actors in slaughterhouses to obtain halal certificates, which will ensure the safety and halalness of food of animal origin circulating and consumed by the people in DKI Jakarta. The success of this program is expected to have a positive impact on the halalness of meat and processed meat products in Jakarta.

In this activity, 77 halal butchers successfully passed the training and received certificates of competence as halal butchers. The number consists of 41 halal butchers for poultry animals and 36 halal butchers for ruminants.

As a result of the halal certification technical guidance by HSC IPB University, 41 business actors in three poultry slaughterhouses (RPHU) in DKI Jakarta have received halal certificates from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH). The halal certificates were given to 22 businesses in RPHU Rawa Kepiting, 17 businesses in RPHU Rawa Terate, 2 businesses in RPHU Rawa Lele.

Chief of HSC IPB University, Prof Khaswar Syamsu expressed his appreciation and gratitude to DKI Jakarta KPKP Agency for facilitating this training.

“Hopefully this cooperation can continue and can be emulated by other provinces in order to fulfill the needs of halal meat for Muslims in Indonesia, as well as fulfillment of regulations related to Halal Product Guarantee for meat circulating and marketed in Indonesia,” he said in the closing ceremony.
