Rector: IPB University Graduates Must Be Ready to Respond to Changing Times
IPB University graduates of Applied Bachelor (D4) and Diploma (D3) Vocational School education programs. This is the second stage of graduation for the 2023/2024 academic year which is attended by 598 graduates.
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, in his speech conveyed three important messages to face challenges in the future. First, he advised about the importance of being a true learner with a future mindset.
“Our ability to be a learner is very important for us to have in order to lead change and lead the future,” said Prof Arif during his graduation speech at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus.
Second, Prof Arif advises graduates to have dreams and focus on future practises. “With future practices, we will become leaders. But if we focus on best practices, we will forever be followers,” he added.
The Rector’s third message is that graduates can strengthen their character and integrity. Citing research conducted by Thomas Stanley, he said that the first key to success is honesty and discipline.
At that moment, the Board of Trustees of the IPB University Alumni Association (HA), Prof Rokhmin Dahuri also provided three provisions for graduates to live a successful and happy life and provide benefits for the nation, our country and the world.
The three provisions are hard skills or intelligence quotient (IQ) which includes the competence of the field of science and the study program taken. Then literacy skills, and the three skills to interpret what is read and develop innovation from the reading.
“To have these three provisions, graduates must continue to read diligently and continue to learn about life, participate in training to hone soft skills so that they can continue to cope with rapid changes in the times,” he said.
In closing, Prof. Rokhmin hopes that IPB University alumni will remain strongly connected to the alma mater, and continue to spread goodness together for the people and our nation, Indonesia. (US/RZ) (IAAS/IAN)
