IPB University Rector, Prof Arif Satria officially launched two new business units called IPB Merchandise and DailyUs which are re-brandings of Botani Merchandise and AgriMart. These two business units are under the management of the IPB University Sustainable Fund, Business, and Investment Development Agency (BPDLBI).

“I say alhamdulillah, IPB University continues to improve in business development, because the measure of business is money and profit, so how does this business make a profit and bring income to IPB University,” said Prof Arif in his speech at the Graduation Support Building, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor, (15/10).

According to Prof Arif, in addition to being a profit field, the existence of IPB Merchandise is expected to promote IPB University widely through marketed products. Some products that have been marketed include hats, t-shirts, jackets, and even ties with the IPB University logo. DailyUs is expected to support the daily needs of IPB University students.

“So, it is important for the development of this merchandise business so that the IPB University logo can be found everywhere,” said Prof Arif.

Prof Arif explained that 10 percent of the business’s profits are allocated for student scholarships. According to him, the program will attract buyers because by buying one of the products at IPB Merchandise or DailyUs, it can contribute to student education scholarships.

“I think the IPB University BPDLBI team has prepared a roadmap. Hopefully this roadmap can be realized on time and IPB University’s business will grow, from small to big,” he said.

Specifically for food products sold at DailyUs, Prof Arif emphasized that BPDLBI IPB University pays attention to the safety and halalness of food so that it is suitable and good for consumption by IPB University students.

Acting Head of BPDLBI IPB University, Dr Indah Yuliasih said that the launch of IPB Merchandise and DailyUs was the starting point for a transformation of IPB University’s business. The two business units refer to the philosophy of 1963, the year IPB University was founded.

“The symbol 63 shows the turning point in the history of the transformation. We use the butterfly logo from the number 63. Like a caterpillar, we assume that the previous businesses that were in the cocoon are now the time for us to transform to make the business more agile and passionate to meet the needs of all communities,” she said.

Dr Indah said that the two business units that were just launched by IPB University were the first steps to create other brands. “The brand that we are currently introducing is IPB Merchandise, so it’s not Botani Merchandise anymore. For AgriMart, we changed it to DailyUs, this will meet all the needs of students who only count in seconds,” she said.

Dr Indah hopes that this transformation will become a unity to grow IPB University’s business. According to her, the most important thing is that the existing business units can facilitate meeting all the needs of IPB University which involve all communities. (MHT/ra) (IAAS/ASD)
