In an effort to prevent child marriage and equip teenagers with important knowledge and skills, the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) in collaboration with the Center for Human Resource Development (P2SDM) of IPB University held the fifth meeting of the Premarital School program in Sinarsari Village and Sukawening Village, Bogor, West Java.

In this meeting, the topic was ‘Family Financial Management and Entrepreneurship Skills’, presented by Rindang Matoati, MM, an expert in financial management and entrepreneurship. The meeting was attended by 30 teenagers who were eager to learn and improve their skills before entering the world of marriage and family life.

Participants were invited to understand the importance of financial planning in the family as the foundation of a prosperous home life. In addition, they were also introduced to various entrepreneurial skills, which are expected to equip them to be economically independent and open business opportunities in the future.

“Good financial management will be very helpful in creating a harmonious family and free from economic pressure,” said Rindang Matoati, MM.

She also encouraged the participants to take advantage of small business opportunities that can be done in the environment around them. Thus, teenagers are not only mentally and socially prepared for marriage, but also have strong economic knowledge.

The Premarital School program is a form of DPMA and P2SDM IPB University’s commitment to provide comprehensive education for teenagers, especially in rural areas, to reduce child marriage rates and prepare them for a brighter future.

Through the five meetings that have been held, participants received various relevant materials, ranging from family life planning, reproductive health, to financial management.

The collaboration between DPMA and P2SDM IPB University aims to create an environment that supports adolescents in making wise decisions regarding their future, especially in facing challenges related to child marriage, which is still an important issue in Indonesia.

By continuing to provide sustainable premarital education, it is hoped that the younger generation can have a more mature view of family life and be able to become agents of change in their respective environments. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
