IPB University Launches Four AI-Based Innovations
IPB University launched four innovations based on artificial intelligence (AI). The event was held on Monday, (30/9) at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Ballroom, Bogor.
The four innovations are 1) Indonesia National Single Window (INSW) with innovator Prof. Yandra Arkeman, 2) IPBHalter with innovator Dr. Sony Hartono Wijaya, RADAR-IPB 1.0 with innovator Prof. Baba Barus, and 4) Drone and Underwater Televisual System with innovator Prof. Indra Jaya.
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria when opening the event said that currently the presence of AI-based technology is not negotiable. To strengthen the science of this field, currently IPB University has opened a new study program, namely Artificial Intelligence Study Program.
“If we are concerned about the future world, then strengthening AI is non-negotiable and strengthening research with AI technology is part of responding to the future,” he said.
Regarding INSW innovation, Prof Yandra Arkeman said that this innovation was present to reduce the length of the export or import licensing process. The application of INSW is blockchain technology embedded into the information system.
At the Ministry of Finance, for example, this blockchain technology has an impact on increasing the speed of tracking and tracing for licensing export and import documents, as well as helping the process of making diplomas at the State College of Administration.
“Blockchain technology can support and increase the speed of process time, cost, convenience and security, and make the system more reliable, transparent and traceable,” he explained.
Meanwhile, related to IPBHalter innovation, Dr Sony Hartono Wijaya said, IPBHalter is designed to monitor horse behavior in real time. This innovation utilizes the internet of things (IoT) for data communication and AI technology to model horse health status.
According to Dr Sony, IPBHalter was created to reduce horse mortality, especially due to colic-one of the most common and deadly equine health problems.
“IPBHalter is also equipped with a notification feature so that it can support faster handling during emergency conditions,” he emphasized.
Regarding Radar IPB 1.0, Prof Baba Barus as the innovator said that this innovation is an early detection model to prevent rice damage.
The last innovation launched, the Drone and Underwater Televisual System, is a tool to trace fishing trails. Prof. Indra Jaya said this tool is equipped with fisheries Electronic Reporting software suitable for small-scale and industrial fisheries.
“This innovation is designed and developed to support seafood import monitoring and traceability programs,” he said. (dh/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
