A total of 6.000 productive plants will be planted in a series of social service events in the context of community empowerment at Wana Wisata Buniayu, Nyalindung, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The event, which will be held on October 19, will involve various communities, government agencies, and students of IPB University Vocational School Sukabumi Campus.

The preparation of this event was discussed in a technical meeting that took place in the Hall Room of IPB Vocational School Sukabumi Campus on 25/9. The meeting was attended by representatives from Forum Orang Sukabumi (Fokus), IPB University Alumni Association, and Perhutani Sukabumi. The meeting discussed the division of roles of each institution involved and compiled a technical checklist of the event.

The Regent of Sukabumi, officials from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Sukabumi District Military Command, Forestry Service, and various local communities are also planned to attend the event. A total of 90 students from IPB Vocational School Sukabumi Campus will also participate in activities to support the welfare of the local community.

Dean of IPB University Vocational School, Dr Aceng Hidayat, stated that this program not only aims to improve environmental quality, but also as a form of community service. “We want to ensure that students not only learn theory, but are also directly involved in real action for community empowerment and environmental conservation,” said Dr Aceng.

In addition, Dr Aceng also emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties to ensure the success of this event. “The involvement of various institutions such as Perhutani, local government, and local communities is crucial. Together, we can achieve maximum results and provide long-term positive impacts,” he added.

“This event is expected to be an important momentum to strengthen the synergy between academics, government, and communities in the context of nature conservation and local economic empowerment,” he said.

The meeting also included the distribution of tasks to each institution involved. Perhutani Sukabumi is responsible for providing plant seeds and technical management in the field. Meanwhile, IPB University Vocational School will coordinate student activities and social services. In addition, the Focus community and IPB University Alumni Association will support logistics and supervision in the field.

The tree planting event is also planned to be followed by monitoring of plant growth and mentoring programs for the community. This step is done so that they can utilize the productive plants to improve the village economy. (IAAS/NAU)
