IPB University’s Science and Technology Park Institute (LKST) and the Bogor Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) have made an agreement to sign a Cooperation Agreement Letter (SPK). One of the scopes of cooperation is related to the management of Product Circulation Permits.

The signing of the SPK was carried out in conjunction with the Sharing Session ‘Product Circulation Permit Management’ which was attended by a number of startups assisted by LKST IPB University. The event was held at the Startup Center Building, IPB Campus Taman Kencana, Bogor (24/9). The sharing session was specifically aimed at startups in the fields of food, natural medicine, and cosmetics.

The Chief of LSKT IPB University, Prof Erika B Laconi said that the startup products under the guidance of LKST must be able to travel throughout Indonesia. For this reason, it is important for startups to know the management of product distribution permits from BPOM.

“Innovation products with distribution permits from BPOM have become expectations and needs, so that sharing sessions in collaboration between LKST IPB University and BPOM will continue to be carried out serially with the ultimate goal of product distribution permits,” added Prof Erika.

Furthermore, she also emphasized the importance of good communication in obtaining a product distribution permit. In addition, startups must also fulfill all the necessary document needs so that the stigma that obtaining a product distribution permit is difficult and long does not occur.

Meanwhile, Jeffeta Pradeko Putra, SFarm, MSi, Chief of BPOM Bogor, said that to obtain a distribution permit, a factory or business location permit must also be taken care of. The steps that must be taken include having a separate production location from household activities and having a business license number.

In addition, he continued, proposers also need to have and add the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) that matches the product. They must also prepare standard operating procedure (SOP) documents and requirements for applying for a certificate of license to implement the Good Processed Food Production Method (CPPOB) for registration and register a company account.
