IPB University Graduate School Delegation Attends UC Faculty Forum at Universiti Putra Malaysia
The delegation of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University attended the University Consortium (UC) Faculty Forum organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The activity initiated by The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) raised the theme ‘Resilience and Adaptation towards Innovation in Climate Crisis’.Â
The SPs IPB University delegation who attended this activity was Prof Titi Candra Sunarti, Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development. She was also accompanied by Prof Agus Buono, Dean of the School of Data Science, Mathematics and Informatics.Â
Reporting from the official website searca.org, the UC Faculty Forum is a consortium of several universities in Southeast Asia for postgraduate education in agriculture and natural resources. The forum was established in 1989 to share academic expertise and resources.Â
Participants attending the event were from IPB University, UGM, Brawijaya University, University Putra Malaysia, Kasetsart University, Chiang Mai University, University of Philipine Los Banos, Central Luzon State University, Visayas State University, Central Mindanao-State University, Tokyo University of Agriculture, National Taiwan University, and University of British Columbia-Canada.Â
The purpose of this event is to provide a platform for UC members who have expertise in related fields to share their knowledge. The forum also highlights issues, technologies, efforts, successes, as well as initiatives taken to ensure agricultural sustainability in regional countries, particularly in Southeast Asia, through the presentation of research results.
“In addition, another goal is to form more international cooperation networks among specialists in related fields as well as open up opportunities for participation in teaching and learning, research, and publications among UC members,” she said.
The delegation from IPB University delivered a presentation in session 3 with the theme ‘Smart Agriculture and Precision Farming for Resilience and Sustainable Development’. Prof Agus Buono presented a research entitled ‘Developing Complex-Bidimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition for Texture Extraction in Diagnosis of Huanglongbing Citrus Plant Diseases’. Prof Titi Candra Sunarti’s presentation was entitled ‘Development of Smart Paper with Natural Colorant as Colorimetric Biosensor for Chemicals Detection in Food Products’. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
