IPB University Graduation: Rector Wants IPB University Graduates to Become Prospective Nation Leaders
Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, motivated IPB University graduates to become leaders of the nation. He said that in order to achieve Indonesia’s goal of becoming the world’s largest country, it requires strong human resources (HR) who can empower themselves to build the nation.
“To achieve this requires leadership, and it can be started from empowering oneself to build the nation,” said Prof Arif Satria in the Graduation of Doctoral, Master, Bachelor and Diploma Education Programmes Phase 3 Academic Year 2024/2025 at Graha Widya Wisuda, 12/9. In this graduation, the Rector of IPB University graduated 600 graduates from the multistrata programme.
Rector of IPB University explained, there are four pillars of leadership that need to be owned by the graduates. The four graduates are able to lead for themselves (lead self), can lead others (lead other), can lead the changes that occur (lead change), and can lead the future by thinking for the future (lead future).
In addition, Prof Arif Satria mentioned that disruption is always present at any time in various fields. “Therefore, it is important to move quickly to take anticipatory steps with a new mindset so that we are required to be able to adapt and always learn or always be an agile learner,” he said.
Prof Arif also mentioned the importance of having a mindset as conveyed by Ki Hajar Dewantara. Ki Hajar Dewantara’s messages include making everyone a teacher, making houses, rice fields, markets as learning facilities.
He said that a true learner mentality is also important for every graduate. Einstein’s message said, once you stop learning you start dying. Therefore, the Rector emphasised that being successful is not solely because of teachers or parents, but how the mindset that builds itself.
On the same occasion, Andi Irman Patiroi, SE, MM, President Commissioner of G Indonesia Cooperation, representative of IPB University alumni, congratulated IPB University graduates. “We need to be proud to be part of the best campus, the people’s campus, the innovation campus, IPB University. Therefore, we must be grateful for this blessing because IPB University campus has very complete facilities and is equipped with complete knowledge,” Andi said.
Andi said that graduates of IPB University could not only become great farmers. IPB University can also produce reliable economists, honest bureaucrats, journalists with integrity, and leaders who favour the people.
He also reported that the alumni have contributed greatly by helping many students through scholarships. At least, there are 1,000 students who have received assistance with a value of 16 billion.
