IPB University Holds Opening Ceremony of the School of Village Government Year 2024

IPB University held the Opening Ceremony of the Bogor Regency Village Government School 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (3/9). 

The Village Government School has entered its fourth year. This year, the activity was attended by 195 participants consisting of 65 village heads and 130 village staff from 65 villages in Bogor Regency.

Dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology of IPB University, Dr Sofyan Sjaf said that the Village Government School aims to improve the knowledge and skills of village officials.

“The Village Government School is the first and only school program on village government in Indonesia. I hope that later each material taught can provide positive changes and impacts on village governance,” he said.

Vice Rector of IPB University for Resource Resilience and Infrastructure, Dr Alim Setiawan emphasized that IPB University pays more attention to villages because it sees villages as the main force in development. 

According to him, each village has different potentials and challenges, so the right approach is needed to optimize these potentials. 

“The Village Government School provides a good opportunity for village heads and village officials to learn and develop their abilities, so that they can realize a developed and prosperous village. IPB University hopes that villages in Indonesia can become a force that drives national progress through innovation and effective management,” he said.

Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare, Regional Secretariat of Bogor Regency, Zaenal Ashari MM appreciated the opening of the 4th batch of Village Government School in 2024. 

“Village heads have a crucial role in empowering the community. Therefore, capacity enrichment in governance, village transformation, and social data collection methods adapted to the local wisdom of Bogor Regency is very important. I hope the village heads can realize a precision village that will bring the village to progress and prosperity,” he explained.

On this occasion, the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof Akmal Malik, was also present as a public lecturer at the Village Government School.
