IPB University and ARM HA Provide Free Health and Medical Services for Residents of Cileuksa, Bogor
IPB University through the Health Unit and Faculty of Medicine (FK) in collaboration with the Independent Volunteer Action of the Alumni Association (ARM HA) IPB held free health and medical services for 164 residents of Cipendawa Village, Cileuksa Village, Sukajaya District, Bogor Regency, West Java, (25/8).
This free health and medical service is part of the Post-Disaster Land Recovery and Community Nutrition Improvement Program initiated by ARM HA-IPB since November 2023 in two locations, namely Mangunkerta Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency and Cileuksa Village, Sukajaya District, Bogor Regency.
“This service is conducted by ARM HA-IPB and IPB University as a complement to the nutrition and family health counseling activities and the distribution of 350 food commodity packages that have been implemented on August 4, 2024,” said Chairman of ARM HA-IPB, Ir Ahmad Husein, MSi.
In addition to free medication, the IPB University Health Unit checked several parameters, namely blood pressure, blood sugar levels, uric acid, and cholesterol of residents who checked themselves. Residents lined up in an orderly manner waiting for their turn for the health check held by ARM and IPB University on the terrace of a resident’s house.
“We have had difficulty accessing health facilities due to long distances and poor road conditions. This free service is very helpful for me and my family,” said Aisah, a Cipendawa resident who was relocated from her village in Rancanangka which was buried by landslides and is now a dead village. The nearest health center is located in the capital of Sukajaya sub-district, about an hour from Cipendawa by motorcycle.
“The most common complaints that the IPB University medical team found during the service were related to myalgia (muscle pain), dyspepsia, upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) especially in children, and metabolic diseases such as hypertension and elevated blood cholesterol levels,” said Dr Agil Wicaksono from the IPB Health Unit who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of IPB.
The service lasted for three hours with the number of patients reaching 164 people. It is planned that ARM and IPB University will conduct similar services periodically in the next 6 months. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
