Strengthening International Education, IPB University Holds Double/Joint Degree Programme
In an effort to strengthen its position in the global arena, IPB University has made internationalisation of education a strategic foundation to strengthen its presence among the world’s leading universities.
According to IPB University’s Director of International Education, Puji Mudiana, SP, MA, through international collaboration in higher education, IPB University is committed to expanding access to high-quality education for more learners, including through the implementation of Double Degree and Joint Degree programmes.Â
“The main objective of the Double Degree/Joint Degree grant is to stimulate the growth of these programmes at IPB University,” she explained.
She elaborated that the Double Degree programme involves cooperation between two or more universities that each offer different study programmes at the same level. This allows students to obtain degrees from several institutions and graduate with two degrees.Â
In contrast, a Joint Degree programme is a partnership of two or more universities offering the same programme, allowing students to complete their studies at two institutions and obtain one degree.
Puji said that in the 2023/2024 academic year, IPB University received the DAPT-EQUITY Project from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to support efforts to become a world-class institution, as well as maintain IPB University’s position as a leading university in the field of biosciences and agromaritime in Southeast Asia.
“Achieving the target of five per cent international students is an important part of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 6, which includes collaboration with global partners. The development of Double Degree and Joint Degree programmes is a key strategy to achieve this goal while improving the quality of graduates (KPI 1),” she explained.
In addition, the Double Degree and Joint Degree programmes allow educators at IPB University to expand their academic network through close collaboration with partner universities, supporting KPI 3 and KPI 4, which will ultimately improve the overall performance of the institution.
