PSL Study Programme of IPB University Attends the National Meeting of the Association of Environmental Science Study Programmes throughout Indonesia

The Master and Doctoral Study Programmes of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (PSL) of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University attended the International Conference and the XI National Working Meeting of the Association of Environmental Science Study Programmes throughout Indonesia (PEPSILI). The National Meeting took the theme Harmonisation of Sustainable Environmental Governance Based on Environmental Impact Assessment, taking place at Udayana University, Bali.

The delegation of Environmental Science Study Program consisted of Prof Widiatmaka ( Chairman of Environmental Science Doctoral Study Program), Prof Lina Karlinasari (Secretary of Environmental Science Doctoral Study Program), Prof Hadi Susilo Arifin (Chairman of Environmental Science Master Study Program), Prof Efi Yuliati Yovi (Secretary of Environmental Science Master Study Program) and educational staff Herlin Anggreayani, SP and Subur, SE.

PEPSILI is an organisation that serves as a forum and cooperation network between all environmental science study programmes in Indonesia, established on 23 April 2018 in Jakarta. This organisation consists of environmental science study programmes from undergraduate, master’s to doctoral programmes. In addition to being a forum for environmental science study programmes, this organisation also collaborates with various government and private institutions both domestically and abroad.

During the meeting in Bali, an international seminar was held on the first day, followed by an excursion to visit mangrove and coral reef conservation sites on the second day. On the third day, participants were given presentations by the Director of Forest Resources Inventory and Monitoring of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as experts on sustainable transport management. The national meeting itself took place on the third day.

Prof Widiatmaka said that the main focus of this meeting was to respond to the challenges and prospects of academia in order to establish collaboration with various parties. It aims to contribute to solving global environmental problems and preparing human resources in the environmental field. 

“In general, this series of activities makes a very important contribution to the development of the PSL SPs IPB University Study Programme in the future,” he said. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
