DPMA and IKK IPB University Inaugurate ‘Papanting’, a Concrete Step Towards Accelerating Stunting Reduction in Sukabumi
The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) of IPB University, the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), and the Sukabumi Regency Government (Pemkab Sukabumi) held the inauguration of the ‘Pojok Pangan Atasi Stunting’ (Papanting) in Sukamanis Village, Kadudampit District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
This activity is part of a university-led initiative to accelerate stunting reduction. The inauguration was attended by various stakeholders, including the Chief of the Sukabumi Regency Population Control and Family Planning Office, the Kadudampit Subdistrict Chief, the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for Population Control, the Food Security Office, the Agriculture Office, the Task Force for Stunting Reduction Acceleration (TPPS), and Trained Cadres from Sukamanis Village.
Dr Tin Herawati, Chairperson of the IKK Department at IPB University, stated that Papanting is expected to become an educational hub for the community to address stunting through the utilization of local food and increased awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition. “We hope that Papanting will serve as a significant first step in our joint efforts to reduce stunting rates in this area,” she said.
In addition to inaugurating Papanting, the delegation also visited Warung Anak in Gede Pangrango Village, a local initiative that provides healthy food for children in the village. “Warung Anak is a concrete example of how the community can directly contribute to providing good nutrition for our children,” she added.
During the event, DPMA IPB University also provided Calina papaya seedlings and vegetables to support the development of Papanting. Nurul Amirah SKPm, a DPMA representative, stated, “IPB University is here to accompany community development, and we are very open to partnerships and collaboration.”
Nurul also introduced the Agribusiness and Technology Park (ATP) as a showcase area for innovation, a center for mentoring, and community development at IPB University. With this support, DPMA and IKK IPB University are committed to continuously supporting programs focused on improving the quality of life in the community.
