IPB University Improves Hygiene with Clean Toilet Competition: A Step for the Next Generation
As a campus known as the “green campus”, IPB University continues to show its commitment in maintaining environmental cleanliness. One manifestation of this commitment is by holding a clean toilet competition organized by Agrianita IPB University.
The judging of this competition was conducted on August 22, in collaboration with Intercipta. A total of 703 toilets from various Faculties/Schools and General Competency Education Programs (PPKU) were assessed in this competition. There were 7 judges from Intercipta who were accompanied by the committee from Agrianita and the Directorate of General and Infrastructure (DUI) of IPB University.
“This judging was carried out thanks to the initiative of the women of Agrianita IPB University. I think, toilet cleanliness is the first thing we pay attention to when talking about environmental cleanliness,” said Prof Agus Purwito, Secretary of IPB University.
He emphasized the importance of efforts from each unit to maintain toilet cleanliness. “We also have to remind each other, one of which is through clean toilet competitions like this. To maintain the cleanliness of toilets on an ongoing basis, it is necessary to hold regular assessments,” said Prof Agus.
In addition, Prof. Agus added that hygiene standards need to be set so that the perception of toilet cleanliness throughout IPB University can be standardized. “Hopefully this activity will run well so that the cleanliness of our toilets is always maintained,” he concluded.
Chairperson of Agrianita IPB University, Retna Widayawati, who is familiarly called Neno, emphasized that the purpose of this competition was not just to find a winner, but also as an effort to determine the standard of toilet cleanliness at IPB University.
“Our focus is not on the final result, but we also want to know the standard of IPB University toilets based on the data from the judging results with Intercipta. From the data, we will develop guidelines for toilet cleanliness at IPB University,” explained Neno.
Furthermore, Neno said that the data from Intercipta will be used to provide recommendations, especially if serious problems are found, such as toilets that are no longer suitable for use. “Toilets that are not suitable will be handled immediately so as not to endanger users. IPB University not only pays attention to cleanliness, but also safety and comfort,” she added.
Neno hopes this clean toilet competition can be a good example for future generations. “What we are doing today is an extraordinary step for IPB University, and hopefully the next generation can emulate this good step,” she concluded. (Lp) (IAAS/NAU)
