IPB University Launches Three Excellent Research Results in the Health Sector
IPB University through the Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI) launched three excellent research results in the field of health at IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (23/8). This activity presents the results of superior research by three IPB University researchers, namely Prof Dyah Iswantini (Herbal medicine: ProliSlim), Prof Irzaman (Non-invasive blood Hb level measurement tool), and Dr Yessie Widya Sari (Oral Care ‘c et chic’).
In his speech, Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria said innovation in the health sector should be prioritised because so far import dependence, especially in the field of medical devices, is still very high.Â
He revealed that the position of health research at IPB University occupies the second position, with herbs as the main orientation of the Faculty of Medicine.Â
“We need to strengthen research in genomics as well to reduce imports and increase sovereignty in the health sector. IPB University seeks to elevate herbal medicine into prescription medicine, which will have an impact on the growth of medicinal plants and the progress of the agricultural sector,” he said.Â
Prof Arif added that medicinal plants will be the basis for the development of medicines in the future.Â
“We must continue to be innovators who amaze, encourage extraordinary creativity. Congratulations on this innovation, hopefully it will inspire others to work,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University, Dr Berry Juliandi said that IPB University as an innovative campus in Indonesia has become a national model for research development.Â
He said, FMIPA IPB University has an innovation ecosystem by creating a system that produces research and innovation.
“In our faculty, the dean does not only take care of technical aspects but focuses on developing research strategies. My job is also to build communication and motivate lecturers to become proactive leaders in research. This approach is expected to produce new innovators,” he said.
Acting Director of Research Facilitation at the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP), Emanuel Agus Hartono, said that his party strongly supports research activities, one of which is by providing a budget of more than two trillion rupiah for the Productive Innovative Research (RISPRO) programme. Research funds supported by LPDP have also produced various downstream and commercialisation products.Â
“We establish research activities in various universities that produce products needed by the community. LPDP supports research that focuses on downstreaming. Congratulations to IPB University, hopefully the results of this research will benefit the community and become a meaningful charity,” he said.Â
IPB University Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi added that IPB University has a long tradition of launching innovations that reach the patent stage to commercialisation.Â
This health innovation launching event, he said, became a bridge of IPB University’s research knowledge to a wide audience, including the mass media.
“We are grateful for the support that has been given during this long process. In the future, IPB University’s health research will increasingly play a role with collaboration and synergy between various stakeholders,” he said. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/RSL)
