IPB University students held a workshop to introduce the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) Innovation program to the people of Dangiang Village, Banjarwangi District, Garut, West Java (9/7).

During the KKNT Inovasi, students plan to run three excellent work programs for Dangiang Village. Located at the Banjarwangi Sub-district Office, the event was attended by the Banjarwangi Sub-district Head as well as the symbolic opening of the workshop.

According to Rafi Chaidir KP, Coordinator of KKNT Dangiang Village, the workshop was a medium for students to present an analysis of the village’s problems and potentials, which was compiled based on the results of field surveys and interviews with the community during the two weeks prior to the workshop.

“Three excellent programs that we will carry out during the KKN are assistance in applying for a Social Forestry Decree (SKPS), socializing Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and making the Dangiang Village Jagoan Information System (Siujang),” he said.

Initially, the students only focused on the SKPS submission given the cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the KKNT IPB team in Garut Regency.

“After conducting a field survey, we felt the need to add a PHBS work program to increase awareness of clean living starting from children. Information about Dangiang Village is also still very limited, making it difficult for people inside and outside the village to access information. Therefore, we initiated Siujang,” he added.

According to Rafi, they received a positive response from the village officials and community who considered that the three programs were expected to make Dangiang Village more prosperous and empowered.

The workshop was also attended by the Banjarwangi military rayon commander, Dangiang village secretary, Forest Farmers Group (KTH) and Forest Village Community Organization (LMDH). (IAAS/Hap)
