IPB University Student Innovation: Zymatic Diffuser Helps PT Agro Apis Palacio Overcome Ticks in Animal Feed

A number of IPB University students through the Student Creativity Program in the field of Science and Technology Application (PKM PI) created a Zymatic Diffuser innovation. They are Nurhazizah Waddaulah, Putri Ardiani, Hanna Husnia Mumtaz, Alfikri Ramadhan, and Rendi Septrian.
Zymatic Diffuser innovation is made to overcome problems that occur in the animal feed industry, namely fleas on bran that can reduce the quality of feed. It was also felt by PT Agro Apis Palacio.
PT Agro Apis Palacio, a company that focuses on instant feed production, feed research, livestock transportation, and processed livestock products. Established in 2015, this company continues to innovate to utilize the potential of agriculture and livestock in the Bogor area and improve the quality of their products.
PT Agro Apis Palacio’s instant feed products utilize side products from agro-industrial processing, such as corn cobs, soy sauce grounds, coffee grounds, and various other ingredients.
“The company faces a big challenge with the presence of fleas in the bran that are used as the main raw material. This problem not only reduces the quality of feed, but also reduces nutritional value, causes disease in livestock, and causes significant production losses,” said one of the student members, Nurhazizah Waddaulah.
She explained, Zymatic Diffuser is made with dried leaf extract of cloves. The innovation aims to spread repellent compounds, which are midges derived from clove dry leaf waste evenly throughout the feed storage space, repelling fleas, and improving the quality of animal feed products.
“This technology is also affordable and does not cause side effects such as fogging tools that are commonly used to deal with pests,” she added.
Zymatic Diffuser utilizes an electric current source which is then converted into DC current through the power supply to generate voltage. This voltage serves to optimize the mist maker. This mist maker will produce steam from a shelter box containing clove leaf extract. When turned on, the mist maker produces steam upwards which is then pushed by a fan or propeller so that the steam flows optimally through the pipe.
“This innovation is expected to help PT Agro Apis Palacio in achieving the sustainability of quality feed production. With this technology, the company can maximize production capacity, increase profitability, and maintain livestock health through flea-free feed,” said Nurhazizah.
“We believe that the technology of implementing Zymatic Diffuser developed by IPB University students will have a positive impact on production efficiency and the sustainability of our business to provide quality animal feed. With the implementation of this technology, we are optimistic that we can overcome the problem of fleas in animal feed effectively and efficiently,” said the representative of PT Agro Apis Palacio.
