LKST Participates in the Indonesian Patent Expo, an Event to Showcase 30 IPB University Innovation Products

The Regional Institute of Science and Technology (LKST) IPB University participated in enlivening the 2024 Indonesian Patent Expo some time ago at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. This activity was held in celebration of World Intellectual Property Day.

In the 2024 Indonesian Patent Expo, IPB University displayed various innovations from IPB University residents. A total of 30 innovative products that already have patents and intellectual property (KI) were introduced to the public.

These innovations start from the fields of agriculture/food, information technology, advanced materials, personal care, cosmetics and biomedicine. Many expo visitors were interested in the innovative products produced by IPB University.

“IPB University will continue to support efforts to create innovation and continue to strive to protect the IP of innovative works produced by IPB University residents to support the progress of the nation and the welfare of society,” said Head of LKST IPB University, Prof Erika B Laconi.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has declared April 26 as World Intellectual Property Day. In 2024, the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day will carry the theme ‘Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals: Building the Future with Innovation and Creativity’.

The 2024 Indonesian Patent Expo also coincides with the National Geographical Indications Forum event, both of which were initiated by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

The activities of the National Geographical Indications Forum and Indonesian Patent Expo 2024 are expected to encourage growth in the number of Indonesian patents and innovations that are legally protected and bring together inventors and investors. The 2024 Indonesian Patent Expo was attended by 30 universities and research and development (R&D) institutions in Indonesia.

In his speech, the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H Laoly said, in line with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2024 to create a generation that is competent and competitive, joint synergy and collaboration is needed to create a conducive and productive IP ecosystem. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ASD)
