The Leadership and Executive Education Institute (LKPE) of IPB University, in partnership with Maastricht School of Management (MSM), has organized a Short Executive blended program called ‘Effective Strategies for Local Business Development’. This program offers participants the opportunity to explore main issues related to Private Sector Development (PSD) at the micro, meso, and macro levels.

The program is delivered in a hybrid format over 4 weeks online (including both synchronous and asynchronous components) from May 20 to June 14, 2024, followed by 5 days of offline sessions from June 24-28, 2024, at the Delta Building, IPB Campus, Gunung Gede, Bogor, West Java.

This program was attended by eight participants from both national and international origins, including Agustina Widi (IPB Business School-Indonesia), Anisa Puri (Indonesia), Cyrille Wendyanaba Korentin Zongo (Burkina Faso), Gilang Ayuningtyas (IPB Vocational School-Indonesia), Lastiana Yuliandari Utami (Indonesia), Lindawati Kartika (IPB Management Department-Indonesia), Nofi Isnaini (Indonesia), and Zain Abualhaj (Jordan).

“After completing this program, participants are expected to understand the role of the private sector, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), in emerging markets and their significance for economic and social development,” said Dr Pria Sembada, Acting Chairman of LKPE IPB University.

In addition, participants will be able to discuss the ethical, social, and ecological limitations of private sector activities and how MSMEs address them. They will also understand how to reflect on the development of local MSMEs, their opportunities and obstacles, and gain deeper knowledge of appropriate management systems for MSMEs in emerging markets, including finance, human resources, operations, and marketing.

The Short Executive Program employs a variety of teaching and learning methods, including lectures, case studies, interactive discussions among participants, practice sessions, presentations, and both individual and group assignments.

The lecture sessions are structured in a hybrid format, featuring 8 expert speakers: Mr Drs Andre Dellevoet (Senior Consultant MSM Maastricht University-Netherlands), Dr Raden Dikky Indrawan, Dr Sahara, Dr A Faroby Falatehan, Dr Zenal Asikin, Febrianto Arif Wibowo, SIP, MM, Intani Dewi, SPt, MSi, MSc, and Dr Willy Bachtiar from IPB University-Indonesia, alongside Aminudi, the CEO of Biomagg Sinergi Internasional.

Furthermore, participants engaged in a series of field visits to various sites, including Science Techno Park at IPB University, Aquatic Plant Centre Indonesia, Serambi Botani at IPB, IPB Convention Hotel, Bogor Botanical Garden, and Cimory Riverside.

On the last day of the face-to-face classes for the Short Executive blended program ‘Effective Strategies for Local Business Development’, participants joined a session with Mr Drs Andre Dellevoet covering topics like ‘Developing an appropriate business model for Papuan small businesses’ and ‘Implementing a practical strategy for private sector growth through dissemination, replication, and scaling’.

Dr Pria Sembada closed the program and awarded certificates to the participants. “Alhamdulillah, overall, this training has made a profound impression on the participants. Everyone feels they have attained their goals. Hopefully, this endeavor will continue with ongoing improvements in quality,” he stated.

“LKPE IPB University, in collaboration with MSM, expresses appreciation to all participants, speakers, and stakeholders who contributed to this event. LKPE IPB University hopes that participants will directly benefit from this program,” expressed Dr Pria Sembada.
