IPB University Received a Visit from Auburn University, USA

A delegation from Auburn University of the United States paid a visit to IPB University. The delegation was received directly by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria in the Rector’s Conference Room, IPB Dramaga Campus, on March 19th.

In his speech, the Rector of IPB University said that currently IPB University is strengthening the collaboration network at the global level. He mentioned that IPB University focuses on impact, not ranking. Nevertheless, the ranking of IPB University is in the 426th position in the world.

“In the QS WUR by Subject ranking in 2024, IPB University managed to maintain the Top 10 position in Asia in Agriculture and Forestry. In the QS WUR by Subject Agriculture and Forestry 2024, IPB University is ranked 7th in Asia and 51st in the world,” he said.

Rector of IPB University also mentioned the efforts made in realizing the techno socio entrepreneur university. “IPB University built a science techno park which is an area dedicated and professionally managed for the management and commercialization of innovation, technology transfer based on intellectual property and economic development from downstream results,” he said.

“Now we are encouraging the commercialization of more than 50 percent of innovations to be used by industry. We have also released rice varieties on marginal land and have been distributed in Indonesia and through the lecturer’s return home program that brings innovation to the region has a positive impact on society by 20 percent,” he said.

In addition, Prof Arif mentioned that IPB University has sent students around 4667 to remote villages throughout Indonesia so that students can learn about local knowledge which is very meaningful in science.

“I hope through the visit from Auburn University, United States there will be an increase in cooperation, especially related to student exchange,” said Prof Arif.

Meanwhile, Dr Vini Nathan, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Auburn University said that his party was very interested in knowing more about IPB University, especially those that had a connection with the science at Auburn University. “We are looking forward to cooperation with IPB University,” she said.

The visit was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of IPB University, Prof Tridoyo Kusumastanto who is also an alumnus of Auburn University; Prof Ernan Rustiadi, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Community Development; Prof Iskandar Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Cooperation and Alumni Relations; Prof Anas Miftah Fauzi, Chairman of the Institute for International Research and Advanced Technology.
