Limitations are not an obstacle to achieving higher education. Inclusive education is an important approach based on the values of equality, acceptance, and participation for every learner, including people with disabilities.

IPB University, as the organizer of the Computer-Based Test Exam-National Selection Based Test (UTBK-SNBT), shows its commitment to inclusive education that is friendly to people with disabilities.

One of the participants of UTBK-SNBT Wave 2 at IPB Dramaga Campus, Tria Apriliani, with hearing and speech disabilities, is a student from Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri 1 Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

With her persistent determination, this student who loves mathematics struggles with thousands of UTBK participants this year to achieve her goal of being able to have a career in the office sector.

In its implementation, IPB University ensured that all participants, including people with disabilities, could take the exam comfortably and smoothly.

Tria Apriliani expressed her impression after taking the UTBK-SNBT at IPB University. “Alhamdulillah, I did well in the exam, but there were some difficulties. I don’t know if learning maths is different from what is learned in SLB. I am still optimistic about the results,” she said through a WhatsApp message sent to the reporter when she had the opportunity to share her story after taking the exam.

She added, “Before entering the exam, I pray first so that I can pass UTBK-SNBT. I hope to study better so that I can pursue higher education and make my parents proud,” she said.

Law Number 8 Year 2016 on Persons with Disabilities has guaranteed the right of every individual, including persons with disabilities, to receive equal and inclusive education. With this regulation and the joint efforts of all, it is hoped that more people with disabilities can access higher education without barriers. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/PRP)
