Student Association of Marine Science and Technology (Himiteka) IPB University visited Graha Pena Radar Bogor office, recently. The visit was conducted in order to train Oceanic Magazine, a marine magazine that will be published by Himiteka IPB University under the Media and Branding Bureau.

A total of 13 members of the Oceanic Magazine editorial team, consisting of five journalists and eight layouters, participated in the training which was divided into two sessions. The first session was for the journalist division with Rani Puspitasari from Radar Bogor. In this session, Himiteka IPB University students got insight into writing articles that attract readers.

The second session was a session for layouters with Zaenal from Radar Bogor. Various layouter principles that can attract readers’ attention were discussed here, from photo and text placement to colour selection.

“It’s fun, we can get knowledge from the experts directly. They’re also fun to talk to so we don’t have a rigid discussion,” said Raden Owie as the person in charge of the layouter division of Oceanic Magazine, expressing his impressions and messages from the training, which was held in Yasmin, Bogor.

Himiteka IPB University Supervisor, Muhammad Iqbal, SPi, MSi also supported this training. He hopes that this training can broaden the horizons of the Oceanic Magazine editorial team and strengthen the relationship between academia and the media industry.

“In addition, I hope this training is also the first step in collaboration between student journalists and professional media, which is expected to provide sustainable benefits for both parties in the future,” he said.

In the Himiteka IPB University management period 2023/2024, Nayaka Arnawama’s cabinet, Oceanic Magazine will be released twice electronically, namely the 16th volume and the 17th volume.
