Facing the era of industrial revolution 4.0, it is not only IT children who play a role. In fact, physics and its graduates are also very much needed in the development of today’s technology.

In this digital and electronic era, physics graduates are increasingly needed. The development of electronic instrumentation, digital networks, artificial intelligence such as robotics and the internet of things (IoT) requires competent human resources in their fields. Moreover, today’s technological development is multidisciplinary.

The Physics Study Program (Prodi), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University can be the right choice to continue your studies. With the K2020 curriculum that is adaptive and connected to the industrial world. Graduates are also equipped with innovative and competitive competencies.

“Students will be equipped with competencies in the fields of biophysics research, theoretical and computational physics, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary applied physics with various adequate integrated research infrastructure,” said Prof Tony Ibnu Sumaryada, Head of the Physics Department of IPB University.

The physics science taught at IPB University is also focused on the agricultural and agromaritime fields. This makes research in the IPB University Physics Study Program unique and has its own advantages.

The research carried out is multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary, so that basic physics concepts can be applied in various fields. For example, to support innovation in the life sciences, from food, energy to medical.

One of the innovations contributed by the IPB University Physics academic community is ‘Green Fashion Palm Oil’ (GreenFash). This innovation is an environmentally friendly fashion product from the use of empty palm oil fruit bunches. The fashion products also vary, from clothes, bags, shoes to helmets.

Rukhshon Muhammad Fairuz Abadiy, IPB University Physics Study Program student who won a silver medal in the 2023 National Higher Education Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad (ON-MIPA) also shared his testimony.

“Physics is a broad science and very interesting to explore in more depth,” said this student from SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo when sharing his impressions while studying Physics at IPB University.

“The lecturers also have varied expertise which of course gives students many choices when they start to do final assignment research,” he said.

As someone who is involved in the Olympic field, he feels that classroom teaching provides a strong foundation in his preparation for each competition event.

“We also received intensive assistance or training which also contributed to achieving this achievement,” continued Rukhshon.

The reputation and quality of IPB University’s Physics study program has been proven by obtaining accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with a score of ‘Excellent’. Currently, the Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN) is also in the process of international accreditation.

Generally, IPB University Physics study program graduates are absorbed into various industries such as oil and gas or materials, IT Professionals, educators (lecturers/teachers), researchers in the technology field, field engineers, and entrepreneurs in the technology field. (MW/Rz) (IAAS/ASD)
