Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) by IPB University students and the Cianjur Environmental Agency (DLH) forged a strong partnership in carrying out greening activities in Cibarengkok Village, Bojongpicung Subdistrict, Cianjur Regency on 12/1. Full support was provided by the Village Head of Cibarengkok and representatives from the Cianjur Regency Environmental Agency.

Embracing the spirit of environmental sustainability and increasing ecological awareness, students chose the greening location in Sangiang Cekas, which is one of the tourist potentials in Cibarengkok Village. This decision was based on the significant potential of the tourist site in supporting greening and environmental preservation programs, as well as enhancing the beauty of Cibarengkok Village’s tourist potential.

Greening was carried out by planting a total of 20 fruit plant seedlings such as jackfruit, oranges, crystal guava, mango, and water guava. The event was attended by the Cibarengkok Village government, Village Development Officer (Babinsa), and the local community.

Tatan Hermawan, the Secretary of Cibarengkok Village who was present, expressed, “On behalf of the Cibarengkok Village government, we thank and appreciate the IPB University student team for planting fruit seedlings at the Sangiang Cekas tourist location in collaboration with the Cianjur Regency DLH. Hopefully, the planted seedlings will benefit the community and beautify the tourist location,” said Tatan.

After that, Tatan mentioned that besides providing positive physical impacts, with the presence of flourishing fruit plants, this activity is expected to provide a deeper ecological understanding to the community.

“The hope is that programs like this can be applied more broadly in the future. Hopefully, IPB University students will become activists who care about the environment and nature as well as agriculture,” he added.

One of the IPB University KKNT students stated, “We hope that this activity will be the starting point for positive change in Cibarengkok Village and its surroundings. Through tree planting, we want to make a real contribution to preserving nature and creating a healthy environment for future generations,” he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that greening is not just about planting trees but also an effort to create environmentally friendly and attractive tourist destinations. This collaboration is expected to make Sangiang Cekas an inspiration for other tourist destinations in Cianjur Regency.

“The Cianjur Regency DLH not only provides technical support and resources but also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between universities, local governments, and communities in realizing a clean, green, and sustainable environment,” he concluded. (*/Lp) (IAAS/Hap)
