Faculty of Animal Science of IPB University Successfully Holds Student Exchange Program with Vietnamese Students

Total of 28 delegates, consisting of three lecturers and 25 students from the College of Agriculture Can Tho University (CTU), Vietnam, conducted a Short Student Exchange Program at IPB University for six days (3-8/12). This activity is a routine activity from CTU, Vietnam, with the aim of developing cooperation activities, increasing international exposure and cultural exchange.

With the support of the Directorate of International Education of IPB University, the Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) through the Department of Animal Production Science and Technology was specifically appointed as the organizer of this short exchange program.

Dean of Fapet IPB University, Dr Idat Galih Permana warmly welcomed the CTU delegation. In his speech, Dr Idat conveyed the importance of cooperation in the field of animal husbandry in Southeast Asia.

“With this activity, it is expected to increase cooperation in education and research between Fapet IPB University and CTU,” he said.

Prof Nguyen Trong Ngu as Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture CTU, expressed the hope of further collaboration with Fapet IPB University. In this activity, he also had the opportunity to give a public lecture with Prof Asep Gunawan, Professor of Fapet IPB University. Both reviewed the development of genetics and biotechnology in Indonesia and Vietnam.

The activity continued with a discussion with students of the Animal Production Science and Technology Student Association (Himaproter). Then, the CTU delegation visited the laboratory and cage facilities of Fapet IPB University.

“Various activities that will be carried out in this Short Student Exchange Program include campus tours and cultural exchange. One of the series is a visit to the Agribusiness Technology Park (ATP) to see various superior products and innovations of IPB University,” explained Dr Windi Al Zahra, coordinator of this activity.

The activity continued by visiting the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) to see the Equestrian Park facilities and the Teaching Animal Hospital (RSHP) of IPB University. Furthermore, the CTU delegation visited the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH) Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) and saw the Seed Center Leuwikopo field lab facilities.

As part of the Short Student Exchange Program, the delegation visited Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) to see miniatures and get to know Indonesian culture. CTU students and lecturers also visited Serambi Botani to see IPB University’s commercialization products. (WAZ/Rz) (IAAS/MZS)
