IPB University Successfully Holds Graduation of Quality Family School to Achieve Indonesia’s Golden Generation
The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) of IPB University initiated the Quality Family School Program (SKB) which has the aim of increasing family knowledge and skills in creating a quality, productive, resilient, and healthy generation.
The implementation of SKB Program Graduation has been successfully implemented and as many as 75 participants consisting of mothers have graduated from the SKB Program. The graduation procession was held on Saturday, 9/12 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor.
Dr Handian Purwawangsa, Director of Agromaritime Community Development of IPB University in his speech said “The theme of the School of Quality Family (SKB) in 2023 is ‘Building Families for Indonesia’s Golden Generation’ which shows the commitment of IPB University in supporting sustainable development and socio-economic resilience of the community,” he said.
Dr Handian reported the number of participants of the SKB Program consisted of 75 mothers who were implemented in Balumbang Jaya Village, Loji Village, and Benteng Village. The teaching team consisted of eight lecturers from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) IPB University.
“DPMA will remain committed to continuing this activity and hopes that all participants who graduate can benefit and apply it in life so that the goal of realizing this quality family can be achieved,” he said.
Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi who was present at the graduation activity appreciated the SKB Program because according to him a developed country is a country that has strength in superior, intelligent, healthy Human Resources (HR) and quality families.
“IPB University is currently working with the local government to carry out the concept of ‘IPB University Town’ which aims that the area around the campus will become a university town, namely an urban area that has characteristics colored by the presence of a campus,” said Prof Ernan.
He continued that a university town must start by developing its human resources so that there will be many programs that can provide benefits in the campus circle. He hopes the SKB program will not only provide benefits for themselves but also the surrounding environment.
Dr Tin Herawati, one of the lecturers of the SKB program, said that the program targets mothers who are the main key in family life, especially parenting.
“If the mother is smart, of course the child will also be smart because the mother can skillfully take care of the child such as providing food, and stimulating so that the mother has a strategic position in creating quality human resources,” she explained.
She said the material provided consisted of the importance of family resilience to prevent stunting, financial management, investment to stimulate children, toddler growth and development environment, and mother’s care for her child.
Siti Aisyah, a representative of the Balumbang Jaya Village Cadre, said that since she participated in the SKB Program she has gained useful knowledge in her daily life.
“I would like to thank the lecturers who have provided useful knowledge. Thanks to the knowledge provided, I understand more about financial management and know which needs and wants, so I can understand the financial map to save money,” she said. (IAAS/TNY)
