Mie University Japan Visits IPB University, Strengthens Cooperation in the Biodiversity Sector

A delegation from Mie University Japan visited IPB University. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of biodiversity. The Mie University delegation was led by Prof T Sakai, Vice President and Executive Director for Collaborative and Research Mie University.

Apart from that, the delegation from Mie University consisted of Prof M Tsukada (Head of International Exchange Committee, Graduate School of Bioresources), Asocc Prof F Okazaki (Laboratory of Quality in Marine Products), and several staff.

“IPB University and Mie University must strengthen and expand areas of collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service,” said the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria.

Prof M Tsukada, Head of the International Exchange Committee, Graduate School of Bioresources, Mie University supports joint degree collaboration between IPB University and Mie University. According to him, the joint degree program allows for curriculum integration and improved learning experiences for students.

Apart from that, there is also a need to increase collaboration in the research field between IPB University and Mie University. Assoc Prof F Okazaki, Laboratory of Quality in Marine Products Mie University has an interest in the field of microbiological biodiversity at IPB University. He hopes that in the future there will be research collaboration with IPB University.

“IPB University and Mie University are committed to advancing the field of biodiversity between Japan and Indonesia. “We can form an educational consortium with Mie University,” said Prof. Anuraga Jayanegara, Director of the Directorate of Strategic Studies and Academic Reputation.

Prof Mala Nurilmala, IPB University Professor from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) added, “Collaboration related to biological resources with Japanese companies for IPB University student internships has so far been implemented. “Other forms of collaboration that can be developed are joint guest lectures and summer course programs.”

Also present were Dr Berry Juliandi (Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), Dr Eva Anggraini (Director of the Directorate of Global Connectivity/DKG), Dr Dordia Rotinsulu, MSi (Assistant Director of International Program Services, DKG) and Alfiasari, MSi (Assistant Director of Organizing International Education, Directorate of International Education).
