IPB University serves as a source of knowledge for the community, channeled through community service activities and implementation as part of the university’s three pillars of higher education. The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA), in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), initiated a community service project with the name of ‘Quality Family School’ or Sekolah Keluarga Berkualitas (SKB).

SKB involves housewives in learning about the characteristics of two-year-old infants (toddlers) and the environment which is needed for their optimal growth and development, presented by Dr Melly Latifah, a lecturer from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. This activity took place in Balumbangjaya Village on 19/10.

“We are very pleased that IPB is organizing the Quality Family School program in RW 12, Balumbangjaya Village, because through this activity, we are able to gain new knowledge. The mothers here are also very enthusiastic to attend and learn together,” said the chairperson of the integrated health post cadres in Balumbangjaya Village.

He further mentioned that this program will consist of seven meetings, featuring various topics presented by different expert lecturers. SKB provides a platform for housewives to gather, share experiences, and also serves as a place for toddlers to socialize with their peers.

“IPB University not only fulfills its role in academic education but also serves as a positive agent of change in the community, especially in the campus surrounding villages, particularly in Balumbangjaya Village. It is expected to create a win-win situation for the campus surrounding villages in building families for the golden generation of Indonesia,” he concluded. (IAAS/ZRT)
