It cannot be denied that disputes among neighbors still often occur. Observing this phenomenon, the ‘Ranger Moms’, a team of IPB University students participating in the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa), organized the ‘Happy Neighborhood’ class. The activity took place at Madrasah Al-Ikhlas, Sukawening Village, Bogor, West Java.

The event, initiated by the Executive Board of the Faculty of Human Ecology Students (BEM Fema) at IPB University, is one of the programs of the Women’s School. Titled ‘Ethics of Neighborliness and Community Living,’ this activity invited Galuh Adriana, SP, MSi, a lecturer from the Department of Science Communication and Community Development (SKPM) at IPB University.

In her presentation, Galuh advised the mothers to build good relationships with their neighbors. She said, “Neighbors are the people closest to us. When a disaster or an unwanted situation occurs, neighbors will be the first to help us.”

“Therefore, be kind to your neighbors. Maintain good relationships by avoiding actions that may disturb them and forgive each other if there are mistakes,” she explained.

Galuh explained that essentially, neighborly ethics are necessary to create a peaceful and safe social environment. In addition, it will also create harmony among neighbors due to the existence of a peaceful and tolerant life.

The ‘Happy Neighborhood’ class was enthusiastically welcomed by the mothers of Sukawening Village. This enthusiasm was reflected in the active class participation, with participants sharing experiences and engaging in Q&A sessions.

“The class was beneficial. I learned how to treat neighbors well and resolve any problems I have with them. The teacher was also engaging, there was a lot of laughter earlier. Hopefully, there will be more classes like this in the future,” replied Siti Marlinah when asked about her impression of attending the class. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
