The Educana IPB University Student Creativity Program for Community Service (PKM PM) team successfully completed the Tigacana program in Sempur Village, Petir Village, Bogor Regency, West Java. This activity is carried out in an open space (outdoor) starting from the point of the landslide-prone area to a more gentle (safe) gathering point or evacuation.

The activity involved village children to play a role. The selection of the route in this simulation session was intended to allow them to deepen their role in the simulation by interacting directly with the environment around them.

This activity was supported by local stakeholders for approval and permission along with supervision. Of course, this is important because the area where the location was chosen is quite vulnerable for children.

During the activity, the residents were enthusiastic to follow and witness the simulation activities, both at the point of the vulnerable area and the evacuation area.

“Knowing that the children would carry out the simulation, a number of residents attended and followed our series of activities from the start of the event at Musala At-Takwa until the end of the activity,” said Salamah.

For Salamah and her team, the presence of the community in this activity is a positive signal that shows the hospitality, willingness and support of the community.

“Previously, there were already mothers who attended and waited for their children, sometimes one to three. However, in this simulation, there were far more mothers than usual,” Salamah continued.

This positive signal was utilised by the team to discuss with the mothers present and convey the intention to form Educana cadres so that educational activities can continue.

“Later, Educana cadres will be the team that encourages children to always participate in our activities in the future,” continued Salamah.

Next, she said, will be the culmination of the Educana program, the ‘Landslide Mitigation Campaign’. Before that, the process of forming Educana cadres will be carried out in the time span between Tigacana and the campaign. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ASB)
