Hundreds of Innovations Present at IPB Innovation Expo 2023

Hundreds of IPB University innovations were displayed in the IPB Innovation Expo 2023 which took place at Botani Square Mall, Bogor. The Expo was held for three days from September 30 to October 2, 2023.

Vice Rector of IPB University for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi said, this event was held in order to introduce IPB University’s innovations to the public.

“In the context of the 60th Anniversary, we held the IPB Innovation Expo 2023. This Expo is an effort to bring IPB University’s innovations closer to the community. Alhamdulillah, IPB University has always excelled in the field of research and innovation. As much as 40 percent of Indonesia’s research and innovation is dominated by IPB University,” he said.

Furthermore, he said, IPB University has consistently entered into the 100 world class university ranking. During this time, IPB University lecturers do not only teach, but also excel in the field of research and innovation. IPB University innovations exhibited in this expo are not only in the field of technology, but also in the form of social innovation.

The chairman of the committee, Prof Sugeng Heri Suseno, who is also the Director of Research and Innovation of IPB University, said that there were 100 innovations of IPB University displayed in this expo. A number of these innovations come from various work units (faculties / departments) in IPB University, including research centers and institutions.

“In this expo, several IPB University innovations are also exhibited such as chili varieties with 100 times the spiciness, seaweed salt, civet coffee without civet and many more. Through IPB Innovation Expo 2023, IPB University wants to make the widest possible contribution to the nation and state,” he said.

The social innovations presented included Sekolah Sampah Mandiri or ‘SeSaMa’, which is an innovation from Prof Sumardjo (Faculty of Human Ecology), Dr Agit Kriswantriyono (CARE), Prof Didik Suharjito (Faculty of Forestry and Environment), Dr. Dahri Tanjung (Vocational School), and the CARE IPB University research team. There were also innovations from the Faculty of Human Ecology such as Rumah Sawit, with researcher Dr Anna Fatchiya as well as the Famlink application and Family Friendly Village from Prof Euis Sunarti.

According to Irwan Riyanto as Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare, Bogor City Regional Secretariat, efforts to bring innovations closer to the community are important to be carried out regularly, one of which is through innovation expo activities like this.

” The Government of Bogor City really needs the role and assistance of IPB University. We really need university innovation to answer the challenges of demographic bonuses that can have an impact on various fields, social economy and environment,” he said at the opening of the IPB Innovation Expo representing the Mayor of Bogor.
