One of the tasks of the Directorate of Strategic Studies and Academic Reputation (DKSRA) is to carry out activities in order to strengthen the management of IPB University journals to improve the reputation of the academic community at the national and international levels. To achieve this target, DKRSA IPB University conducted benchmarking to various universities, one of which was the Publisher of Tun Hussein Onn University Malaysia (UTHM).

UTHM is a leading technical (vocational) university in Malaysia in managing journals indexed by reputable international indexing agencies, namely Scopus. UTHM publishes a total of 22 scientific journals, three of which have been indexed by Scopus and Web of Science ESCI.

“Through benchmarking activities to various universities, it is hoped that DKSRA IPB University can capture and assemble the latest ideas to achieve the target, namely increasing the quality and quantity of scientific journals,” said Prof Anuraga, Director of KSRA IPB University during the visit, some time ago.

The visit of KSRA IPB University was welcomed by Prof Madya Dr Azwan Bin Sapit as Deputy Director of UTHM Publishing. In addition, the activity was also attended by other UTHM Publisher officials, namely Encik Mohamad Zamirularif Bin Tabri as Chairman of the Publisher Editorial Section. The activity began with an introduction of each unit followed by a presentation of the programme managed by the UTHM Publisher.

“From the introductory presentation about the publishing and management system, there are many new ideas received by DKSRA IPB University regarding the management of scientific journals that are centralised in one institution, namely the university publisher. This can be a learning and consideration for us to synergise with journal managers within IPB University,” explained Prof Anuraga.

The activity continued with a very interactive discussion session between the two units. Both units also share experiences that can be a lesson for each party. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ANF)
