Department of Agribusiness IPB University Organizes Workshop on Designing Digital Entrepreneurship Lab

Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University held a Workshop on Designing Digital Entrepreneurship Lab in the framework of the implementation of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) at Grand Savero Hotel, Bogor. The theme of the workshop was 'Upskilling Digital Entrepreneurship through the Agribusiness Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory'.

The purpose of this workshop is to discuss modules that can be the content of the entrepreneurship lab, sharing experiences with entrepreneurship practitioners and academics who have developed entrepreneurship laboratories, namely the School of Business and Management, Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM ITB), and Binus University. Additionally, a workshop was held to identify the skill needs of the private sector that could be met by the entrepreneurship lab.

The event was attended by four speakers who are competent in their fields, namely Effendi Andoko, BSc, Dr Sonny Rustiadi, MBA (SBM ITB), Agung Hari Sasangko, ST, MM (Binus University) and Heri Ardin, SSi, MM.

"It is very important to build and develop an entrepreneurship lab to support scientific development. This also has a positive impact on students, both during their studies and after graduation. PKKM also encourages the acceleration of the establishment of this lab, in line with the vision to build a wider network as a coordination center between various stakeholders," said Dr Feryanto as the Acting The Chairman of the Department of Agribusiness IPB University.

Dr Irfan Syauqi Beik, Dean of FEM IPB University in his speech revealed that this step was a breakthrough in achieving the vision of IPB University in producing technopreneur graduates who can digitize and have an applicable entrepreneurial spirit.

"The digital entrepreneurship lab is expected to become a center of excellence in entrepreneurship development, both at FEM IPB University and on a national scale. This lab will be an adaptive forum for creating superior human resources who can face various challenges in the digital era," added Dr Irfan.

At this workshop, Effendi Andoko, BSc explained the basic concept of the iLab Agribusiness curriculum which includes three main things, namely turning ideas into reality, developing and updating ideas into new businesses, and building relationships with industry. "The vision of iLab Agribusiness is to become an entrepreneurial online program for local creative business and a fair economy, with an entrepreneurial spirit and digital technology," he explained.

In addition, centers of excellence, research centers, and innovation management are important factors in building a technopreneur ecosystem on campus. It aims to facilitate technology transfer, incubation, and entrepreneurial development among students.

In the discussion session, the importance of designing and establishing a digital entrepreneurship lab that can help students overcome the technical, psychological, and social challenges faced in entrepreneurship was revealed. In addition, the role of agribusiness in the entrepreneurial ecosystem was discussed, and how this lab can act as a platform for education on entrepreneurship and produce start-ups that are ready for further assistance.

Through this workshop, it is expected to realize the design of a digital entrepreneurship lab that is effective and has a positive impact on Agribusiness students of IPB University in developing technopreneurship skills. This lab is expected to become a center of innovation, collaboration, and development of business ideas that support the growth of digital entrepreneurship, both at the Department of Agribusiness IPB University and in Indonesia.
