Description:
Herbal medicine in the form of surian tree skin contain several flavonoid compounds such as catechin, epicatechin, and procyanidin, that have enzyme a-glucosidase activity inhibitor. This enzyme has a role in diabetes mellitus mechanism. The result of in-vivo test using rats shows that surian skin extract able to lower sugar blood levels until 72 percent, better than Glibenklamid medicine that only 31 percent. Surian skin extract also able to restore B pancreas cell as a producer of insulin.
