Realizing IPB University as Techno-Socio Entrepreneurial University

The Long-Term Plan of the IPB university is the realization of IPB University as a Techno-Socio Entrepreneurial University. Through the new view of IPB 4.0 with the tagline Race in Excellence to Shape IPB Future and Program Emphasis in 2019, namely the Excellent Innovation Ecosystem, the direction of the development of IPB University is very much in line with the strategic issues we are facing today.

There are two challenges that are our main concern at present. First, the global community is facing the problems of the food, energy, and environmental crisis, which then have a further impact on the quality of human life. Responding to this problem, the United Nations (UN) endorsed the global goals contained in the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) which were prepared through the agreement of leaders of countries in the world. SDGs contain 17 (seventeen) global goals that aim to escalate poverty, protect the planet earth, and ensure prosperity for all. The achievement of SDGs requires high commitment and encourages variety of transformations in terms of paradigms, policies, and behavior. Inclusivity in development is a key factor in achieving SDGs, and Universities is including in those who play an important role in this matter.

Secondly, we are currently in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Although several consequences for the development of 4.0 technology have changed many of the established old system, the presence of this era opens new perspectives on the importance of collaboration to solve complex problems. A number of technological strengths should be utilized for the benefit of sustainable and equitable development.

These two challenges require readiness of human resources to be competitive and contribute to realizing the SDGs. IPB University also increasingly emphasized its role in national development through the launch of the Agro-Maritime 4.0 concept to respond to the challenges of achieving the SDGs and the 4.0 industrial revolution in agriculture in the broadest sense. Agro-Maritime 4.0 is present to address issues of agro-maritime development, the degradation of the environment and natural resources, low community welfare, food insecurity, low contribution of the agro-maritime sector to economic growth, and inequality of development between regions in Indonesia.

Agro-Maritime 4.0 integrates land and sea management in an inclusive manner involving complex social, economic and ecological systems, with the main approaches being used namely transdisciplinary, ecoregion-connectivity, integrated and participatory (integrated-participatory) connectivity. Agro-Maritime 4.0 confirms that all the same disciplines play an important role in solving complex Agro-Maritime issues. "Creating Value" as the main feature of Agro-Maritime 4.0 technology does not only involve one scientific discipline. An information technology (IT) expert does not automatically have the ability to understand the problems of technical, social, and agro-maritime economics, so that interdisciplinary collaboration becomes quintessential.

May Allah SWT always provide guidance and strength to all of us to fulfill the mandate given to each of us in the coming days to meet the glory of IPB University and Indonesia.
