FEM IPB University Develops Student Hub and Digital Library
The Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University is now developing a Student Hub as a center for student activities. This is one of the efforts to improve the quality of academic and student services in the FEM IPB University environment.
In the Student Hub, all secretariats of student organisations (ormawa) are integrated in one area so that it is hoped that this will further strengthen the solidity and togetherness of students. “The existence of a student hub is expected to trigger an increase in the quality of student activities in a more productive direction,” said the Dean of FEM IPB University, Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik.
In addition, he said, to increase access and reading power of students and other academics, his party collaborated with IPB Press to develop a digital library. This digital library provides access services to read books, magazines and other literature digitally, by scanning barcodes available at a number of points.
Head of Business Development, Investment and Waqf (BP Biswaf) IPB University, Dr. Naufal Mahfudz stated that this collaboration is a real step in synergizing all the potential that exists within IPB University. “This is a pilot which is also expected to be replicated in faculties and schools at IPB University,” he said.
In the future, both parties hope that this digital library can be developed to reach rural areas through the Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) program for IPB University students starting in 2024. It is hoped that in each KKN-T location, there will be access to library services digital services that can be enjoyed by rural communities. “This will add to IPB University’s contribution in educating people’s lives,” said Dr. Naufal.
Also present at the inauguration of the two services were Deputy Dean of FEM IPB University for Academic, Student and Alumni Affairs Dr. Anna Fariyanti, Director of IPB Press Erick Wahyudyono, heads and secretaries of departments, student commissions and leaders of ormawa within FEM.
“God willing, in the future, we will mobilize endowments and book and literature donations for this digital library, in collaboration with BP Biswaf IPB University,” concluded Dr. Irfan. (*/Rz) (IAAS/AMR)
