The Science and Technology Area Institute (LKST) or Science Techno Park (STP) IPB University held a Startup Bootcamp “Scale up Your Business through Innovation”. The bootcamp was held as one of the series of Startup Incubation Programme Promoting Research and Innovation Through Modern and Effect Science and Technology Parks Project (PRIMESTeP) 2023.

The Chief of STP IPB University, Prof Erika Budiarti Laconi reported, the bootcamp which was held for three days from 10-12 August 2023 was attended by 42 participants, 28 people from 14 startups fostered by STP IPB University (one startup two people) and 14 startup assistants. The goal is to increase the capacity and skills of startups in terms of management and business performance.

“We hope that this bootcamp will provide refreshment as well as a very positive discourse going forward. A total of 14 startup chief executive officers (CEOs) who have been selected have certain targets in this activity,” she said at the opening of the bootcamp at the IPB International Convention Centre (IICC) Ballroom, Bogor (10/8).

Prof Erika said, through this bootcamp, STP IPB University provides opportunities for young people to improve themselves and increase the capacity of their companies. The target is that startups fostered by STP IPB University can continue to innovate, be creative and collaborate with partners to continue to grow.

Furthermore, the startups that are being nurtured can enter the global market. “We hope that after the programme is over startups will continue to grow and develop, because the government has provided funding and facilities for us. Hopefully, our three-day programme can be useful for all startups,” he added.

Meanwhile, Director of Institutions at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Ditjen Ditristek) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek), Dr Lukman, hopes that the bootcamp can improve skills in managing startups. “I hope this bootcamp can provide insight into how we display confidence from traditional knowledge to be truly recognised by the public. So, we are no longer prestigious. Pecel on the side of the road with good packaging and good taste can be known internationally,” said Dr Lukman.

Dr Lukman emphasised that this startup bootcamp is just a starting point to develop into a big company. After the programme is over, there must be an impact felt by the wider community. “What we hope for is the impact. One startup can employ 1,000 people. This means that you are helping to build the red and white, building the economy and of course being a blessing for all of us,” he said. (MHT) (IAAS/RUM)
